In the event, which took place on July 6 in the laboratories of the Gran Almirante Miguel Grau campus, participants were able to learn about the main tools available in NVivo and their practical application for the analysis of qualitative and mixed information, as well as to understand their use in the preparation of reports of results.

The workshop was led by Clemencia del Pilar Navarro, sociologist at the National University of Colombia and expert in research on the use and appropriation of Information and Communication Technologies in education and science.

NVivo is a research software that provides a workspace for the different stages of a project. It also allows finding insights in unstructured or qualitative data, such as: interviews, articles, content in social networks and on the web.

What is coding in NVivo?

Coding provides a way to manage your qualitative data; by creating nodes and corresponding coding, you can categorize your ideas and collect materials by topic. Collect materials from multiple resources in one node and explore the content in one place.

How do you code in an interview?

Coding consists of carefully discerning the spectrum of potential meanings of what the interviewees say, searching for the most appropriate denominations to conceptualize the phenomena to which they refer, and classifying the textual fragments by assigning codes.

What is axial coding?

Axial coding consists of the process of relating categories to their subcategories, “… it is designated axial because coding is done around the axis of a main category that articulates other categories at the level of their properties and their dimensions” (Strauss and Corbin, 1998, p.

The data for this study were processed and analyzed using NVivo 10 qualitative analysis software. The main analytical method was thematic coding: the 141 opinion columns were imported into NVivo where two basic types of coding were applied[1]:

Once the coding was finished, a Coding Matrix Query was performed to quantify the number of codings between the resources (opinion columns) and the thematic nodes (representing arguments or lines of argument). This matrix was then used as the basis for statistical visualizations using Tableau Public software.

The word trees were created using the Many Eyes application taking into account the content of all the opinion columns. This content was filtered according to the coding of attributes by columnists’ stance, so that a word map could reflect the opinions of all columnists who expressed themselves in favor or against the trial. Those who expressed different positions in different opinion columns were included in the count of all the positions they took.

What can you do with NVivo?

NVivo exploration tools allow you to explore data with graphs, maps, charts, diagrams, and other visualization techniques. They can help you explore trends, test theories, and make sense of what is going on in the resource material. Extractions are specific reports that are given in .

How to use NVivo?

NVivo is a program for qualitative information analysis that integrates the main tools for working with textual documents, multimedia, survey data and bibliographic data in order to make the work of researchers more effective by allowing them to manage and analyze their information in an easy and intuitive way.

What is transmission software?

Streaming software allows you to use a wide range of third-party streaming equipment when streaming to Facebook. Which streaming software (also known as encoding software or encoder) is best for you will depend on the type of content you are streaming.

If you are using encoding software on a Mac or Windows PC, we recommend that you keep the encoding software on a separate machine from any other tasks you need to perform during the event, such as previewing and monitoring the stream or moderating the chat. Generally, performing all of these tasks on the same system can cause a spike in CPU percentage, which affects the quality of the stream and also slows down other tasks.

If you don’t have an external encoder, Vimeo has an integrated browser-based streaming option that allows you to connect with your webcam and stream live without the need for additional equipment.

With Vimeo Premium membership, a Livestream Studio license is included, which means you can download it to your Windows or Mac computer and use your Vimeo login to access the software (Vimeo Enterprise includes three licenses).

Before you can start streaming on Vimeo, you must set up the input source in Wirecast. Once you have set up the input source in Wirecast and created a live event in Vimeo, click Output in the top navigation of Wirecast and select Output Settings.

What does the word coded mean?

To make or form a methodical and systematic body of laws . 2. tr. To transform by means of the rules of a code the formulation of a message .

What is the coding process like?

Coding is a process by which numerical keys are assigned to the responses to open-ended questions in a questionnaire. This process is integrated to an integral information processing stage, which includes the capture, validation and exploitation of the information.

Who encodes and who decodes?

The sending host first converts the messages sent over the network into bits. Each bit is encoded into a pattern of sounds, light waves or electronic pulses, depending on the network medium over which the bits are transmitted. The destination host receives and decodes the signals to interpret the message.
