There are many procedures in Uruguay where you may be asked for the Certificate of Judicial Record, also known as Certificate of Good Conduct and Certificate of Police Record. The institutions that can ask you for this document are those of the State and the consulates, and it is the Ministry of the Interior the one in charge of issuing it and sending it to the addressee.
It is the document that certifies the existence or not of judicial antecedents in the national territory. The certificate is always issued, but in case of having a judicial record, the person will be notified.
The applicant can go in person to the office with an Identity Card and the precise indication of the destination of the certificate. In case the applicant is outside the country, another person may initiate the process by presenting a copy of the applicant’s Identity Card or Passport. Said document must be issued by the National Directorate of Civil Identification.
What is a certificate of good conduct?
The Certificate of Good Conduct is a police certificate that certifies that the applicant has no judicial and/or contraventional cause pending judicial resolution.
How long does the certificate of good conduct last?
The certificate issued is valid for six (6) months, and a photocopy certified by a police or judicial authority may be used later.
How much does the certificate of good conduct cost?
The cost is $U 123 Uruguayan pesos. The document is sent within 15 working days, and is also sent by e-mail to the corresponding State Agency.
Certificate of Good Conduct Formosa
The criminal record certificate, also known as the certificate of good conduct, is a document issued by the Police Department that includes the crimes – serious or less serious – for which a person has been found guilty. It also includes the sentence imposed and whether or not the sentence has been served. If you have not committed any crimes, a negative certificate will be issued.

When is a criminal record expunged?
A criminal record may be expunged if, after the completion of a sentence, the person has not committed a new crime, within a period that varies between 6 months and 10 years, depending on the seriousness of the crime. The time limits are established in Article 136 of the Penal Code.
How long is a criminal record certificate valid in Venezuela?
In accordance with the provisions of the Venezuelan Criminal Code, a criminal record is valid for 10 years from the completion of the conviction or the expiration of the sentence, which results in the exclusion of the individual from the Criminal Record Registry.
Although it is not a frequently performed procedure, in specific situations it may be required. For example, in the case of foreigners, it may be required to obtain residency or citizenship. Nationals will need it to apply for an identity card or for certain procedures before the authorities of other countries.
As it is a process that requires an exhaustive verification, its issuance is not immediate. The estimated delivery time of the document is 15 calendar days. However, if you need it urgently, you can request its express issuance, in two working days.
You must present your Uruguayan Identity Card, valid and in good condition. Also, you must have very clear information about the organization to which the document will be addressed. This is because the Certificate of Good Conduct will be sent directly to the institution or entity that has requested it. In this sense, it is important to clarify that it is a document that can only be requested by State agencies or Consular offices.
How do you expunge a court record?
What is the procedure? The court to which we address our letter will send to the National Registry of Convictions the official letter and the certified copy of the resolution of rehabilitation, in which it will order the cancellation of the criminal record.

Application for a police certificate of good conduct
The police certificate of good conduct must be applied for at the Federal Ministry of Justice in Bonn. The application forms can be found on the website of the Federal Ministry of Justice. Since the applicant’s signature on the form must be authenticated, the applicant must appear in person at the Embassy. Please sign the form until you are in the presence of the consular officer. The form must be sent to the competent authority in Germany at the applicant’s expense.
At the moment the fee for an authenticated signature is equivalent to 20 Euro and must be paid directly at the Embassy. The certificate of conduct itself has an additional cost of 13 Euro, which must be transferred directly by the interested party to the account of the Federal Central Criminal Records Office.
