The Cabinet and independent federal agencies are responsible for day-to-day enforcement and administration of federal laws. These departments and agencies have missions and responsibilities as widely divergent as those of the Department of Defense and the Environmental Protection Agency, the Social Security Administration and the Securities and Exchange Commission.
Under Article II of the Constitution, the president is responsible for executing the laws created by Congress and seeing that they are enforced. Fifteen executive departments, each headed by an appointed member of the president’s Cabinet, carry out the day-to-day administration of the federal government. They are joined by other executive agencies such as the Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) and the Environmental Protection Agency, whose heads are not part of the Cabinet, but who are under the full authority of the president. The president also appoints the heads of more than 50 independent federal commissions, such as the Federal Reserve Board or the Securities and Exchange Commission, as well as federal judges, ambassadors, and other federal offices. The Executive Office of the President (EOP) consists of the president’s immediate staff, along with entities such as the Office of Management and Budget and the Office of the U.S. Trade Representative.

“I invite the Electoral Service to file a complaint in the Local Police Court and to investigate if indeed La Lista del Pueblo is a political party undercover, or if it is a group of independents, just another movement”, said Alberto Precht.
A week full of controversies is the one that La Lista del Pueblo had to face, due to practices of situations that could be considered not very transparent. The information revealed on Thursday by Ciper regarding 24 ballots and invoices issued by relatives of candidates to the Constitutional Convention in Biobío and the Metropolitan Region, has the organization under the magnifying glass.
It is in this context that the executive director of Chile Transparente, Alberto Precht stressed on Radio Pauta that “our requirements for political parties are infinitely higher than the rest of Latin America and even higher than those of OECD countries”. The People’s List (LdP) is a Chilean political movement that is located between the left and extreme left of the political spectrum, made up of independents in the face of the elections of constitutional conventions in 2021. Its national coordination is composed by Rafael Montecinos Ferrada, Mauricio Menéndez and Leonardo Ponce, and as part of its executive committee is Daniel Trujillo. It is considered by many political analysts as populist.
As more independent candidacies for the Constitutional Convention were added to the aforementioned digital platform, it was decided to put together a unified list at the national level, which was officially launched on November 13, 2020 in Plaza Baquedano – dubbed “Plaza de la Dignidad” by protesters. The list initially presented 55 candidacies – 2 in the northern zone and 53 in the central zone of the country – and had as its main axis the construction of “an Environmental, Egalitarian and Participatory Constitutional State.”
